Hello, and welcome to my completely unhelpful blog!
Completely Unhelpful?
I’ve always held back from blogging because every time I want to write a post, I feel like I have to provide every single piece of context and build up the reader’s knowledge from zero each time, and carrying that much baggage is heavy.
If I want to blog about a custom Powershell module, for example, my thought process ends up like this:
“This module is cool, I should blog about it!”
“Will my readers know what a Powershell module is?”
“Will my readers know how to clone a repo to build off this?”
“Will my readers know how to install from the Powershell Gallery?”
“Will my readers know whether they’re running Powershell 7 or 5.1? Or less than 5.1?”
“I wonder what baseball games are on today?”
“SQUIRREL!”
By the end I’ve talked myself out of the whole thing.
So instead I’ve decided to use this blog simply as a way to document things for myself, and open it up to the world to read. If other people find it helpful, then great!
I’m being facieous with the “completely unhelpful” tag – of course I hope this can be useful to you – but it’s mostly a way of lowering my standards and reminding myself that it’s OK to just write; it doesn’t have to be perfect.
It can even be completely unhelpful. But at least it’s out there.
